Born and raised in Oaxaca
I trained as a marine biologist specialising in crocodiles, because nature was my first love. I started taking photographs for my grandmother Martha: she wanted to see everything I saw out there.

02 — What nature teaches
You cannot ask an animal for a second take
I spent years on riverbanks, waiting. For the crocodile to move, for the light to fall, for the moment to happen. Wildlife photography does not allow direction — only patience and readiness. Neither does a wedding.
03 — How I came to weddings
The second love
I began covering friends’ celebrations and realised that telling their story moved me as much as photographing a river. People are part of nature, as much as the mountains and the forests.
04 — What I do with what you pay
A share goes back to the water
I still photograph conservation work. I trained in crocodile handling for my thesis and spent years on their conservation; now I am raising funds for a book on the crocodiles of Oaxaca. La Ventanilla, in Tonameca, is still my favourite place to photograph them in the wild. A share of every wedding funds that work.
